Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced software asset manager to lead our software asset management (SAM) team.  You will be responsible for maintaining software licence compliance, optimising licensing costs, managing major licensing contracts, and being the primary SAM subject matter expert across our global organisation.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead and develop the SAM team.
  • Lead the development and implementation of Rolls-Royce’s SAM strategy and associated tooling.
  • Work as the subject matter expert in all matters relating to software licensing and entitlement.
  • Perform role of process owner for outsourced IT asset management processes – setting and agreeing policies, processes and data requirements.
  • Responsible for management of licensing contracts for major software publishers, including Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, VMWare, Red Hat, Adobe…
  • Work closely with procurement colleagues to support negotiation and optimisation of new software licensing purchases, contracts and renewals.
  • Identify opportunities to optimise software licensing and save money.
  • Play an active role in IT projects to ensure effective, optimised and compliant software licensing, including establishing arrangements for ongoing compliance monitoring where applicable.
  • Respond to and manage software vendor audit requests.
  • Management of software asset management tooling.
  • Perform periodic and ad hoc licence compliance reviews and advise on any actions required.
  • Manage requests from system owners, project managers, IT and business management for specific IT and software asset management data and information.
  • Stay current with licensing trends and changes in software licensing models etc and advise wider IT teams on associated risks and opportunities.
  • Advise on software licensing implications relating to company acquisitions, disposals and reorganisations, and support execution of licensing actions that arise.

Position Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing the software asset management function in a major organisation.
  • Strong understanding of software licensing models and compliance requirements, including Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, VMWare, Red Hat

Preferred Requirements:

  • Proficient in asset management and SAM tools e.g. Snow, ServiceNow.
  • Good working knowledge of ITIL processes and specifically Service Configuration Management
  • Experience in vendor contract negotiation and lifecycle management.
  • Excellent organisational and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across the international organisation.
